making ur own knoppix cd from scratch

I want to create an application which will create knoppix cd on it's own
without the need to have a knoppix cd for customization ie i have a linux system installed and my application would gather the necessary packages and ask the user if he wants to add further packages or remove additional package.The condiation is that i don't have a knoppix cd and i want to develop that.Somebody pls help or give links of such kind of tutorial

or how to take a debian and add a bunch of scripts
and the redhat hardware detection system
and fiddle with to a great extend. ?
