i installed knoppix 3.4 onto my vmware hd using the knoppix look install. it didnt prompt me to create a user account nor set a root password so i cant install anything or get access to create users. it is prompting me for one and leaving it blank doesnt work, any ideas

If you installed it using vmware, I suppose you can run the cd under vmware, if you can, start the cd and then open konsole and type:

#su
            #mount /dev/your partition /mnt/your partition
            #chroot /mnt/your partition
            #passwd

And type your new root password, then when you run from your hard disk. this new password would work.

Your partition is where you installed knoppix
