We need a fromhd PMI forum or something

There's a lot of people having problems with a fromhd "poor man's install". I think we should have a separate forum for that or something.

Problems, or requests for enhancement? Most of the posts I've seen are either (1) people who haven't read or followed instructions, or (2) people who have installed successfully, but want to do something more. The main issue I see is that you cannot modify the partition containing the Knoppix image while you are running Knoppix. The way around that is to put the Knoppix image in a partition that you won't be writing to. That works fine unless you want to edit one of the system files. If that's the case, then all you have to do is to reboot without the "tohd" bootcode (liveCD, IOW), make your mods, and reboot as usual.

I updated the Basic poorman's WIKI, and incorporated some of the comments already posted on this issue. If you have other problems, post them, and I'll be happy to incorporate them as long as they don't deviate from the goal of being newbie-friendly (i.e., no console, no BASH, no download, no mods, everything done from graphical interface). IMO, enhancements requiring these more advanced steps should be placed in a more advanced level how-to. For example, CrashedAgain has written a more advanced and comprehensive how-to for people who are ready to move beyond the basics, but it's incorporated within a remastering how-to, so it may not be as easy to find..
