Ok, so ive compiled and installed the driver.
added alias eht0 blah blah in module.config
it shows up in system info
ive set the ip to 192.168.1.100
but no connection. I was thinking maybe setting
/etc/network/interfaces

to iface eth0 dhcp

would this help?

You are using static ip but using dhcp?
If using static ip: iface eth0 static
More info needed, your conection type? dsl, cable? ISP DNS?
