Playing dvds

I have knoppix 3.3 and when ener i try to open a dvd in xine or vlc. When i try in xine it just shuts the xine player down and in vlc it just doesent work plz help!

I don't have any experiance with vic. With xine you need to install libaries that will enable the software to un-encrypt the disk. At a terminal do xine-check. You will get messages telling you what is missing.

There's a known problem with the xine-ui release included with Knoppix 3.4. maybe also with 3.3. I think it's even been mentioned on these forums somewhere.

I've installed and used the Kaffeine front-end to the xine libraries, works ok.
