Setting up Printer and Modem

I had Knoppix running on a HP pc with winME.

Setup the printer (Epson 480) with Printer Manager and everthing seems (knoppix recognise this printer)fine but it cannot print. Re-boot and this time Knoppix tells me something wrong with CUPS.

Setup 56K internal modem, totally lost.

Appreciate your advise.

This is almost certainly a winmodem. I have got winmodems to work using ltmodem (see
http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12119 & http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12909) but I'm not sure if it can be done with a PMI since installing ltmodem involves installing an application which can normally only be done through klik when using a PMI.

the modem that i'm using is MSP3880-U 56K,

Googled around and seems like nothing is available, with several broken links.

Anyone has info on this?

"Unable to retrieve the printer list. Error message received from manager:

Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS serve is correctly installed and running. Error: Connection refused"

When i tried to add printer, the above error message was displayed.
