sound / modem / 3.5 floppy/ does not work help please

new to knoppix about 7 days, just got back and i found the sound blaster live
does not work, but my mic. works

. control says no sound. but mixer says there are 2 ( sound blaster live) and (unknow) thats what the tabs say.
Also tried to get the modem to work ,but that doesnot want to work either
(HSP56 MR).
I tried the to use the floppy and no also , says not found. plus the cd as well 1 burner 1 dvd .
And yes knoppix is not installed on hd. help help help ...............

Do you happen to have an on board sound card in addition to the Sound Blaster? If so, try going into bios and disabling it.

thank you for replying I found out late night last night(about 2:00am
after I pull out my hair.)but you are correct I disable the on board 97 sound in bios setup and all heil Knoppix that girl rocks!!!!!!
