Ever wanted to make a backup of your favorite video DVD? Now you can under Knoppix. Just klik this application:

klik://dvdshrink (klik client must be installed)

Make sure the DVD is in the drive /dev/dvd and follow the instructions. You should end up with a 1:1 copy of your video DVD in less than half an hour, transcoded from 9 to 4.5 GB.

(This tool uses the Windows Software "DVD Shrink", wine, dvdbackup and k3b. It is currently in version 0.1, so please post back your results.)
