Phantasia Message when I try to reenter game

When I try to reenter Phantasia with a created character I get the following error:

Your character did not exit normally last time.
If you think you have good cause to have your character saved, you may quit and mail your reason to 'root'. Otherwise continuing spells certin death.

I am the root user and I would like instructions for 'saving' this character from 'certin death'. Please help.
