In Knoppix 3.7-2004-12-08, dial-up performance is suddenly terrible. I've been using Knoppix as a live CD on a MS Windows box with an external ModemBlaster, and it has always handled dial-up flawlessly until now (considerably better than Windows).

I don't know what has changed on Knoppix's end, but does anyone have any suggestions? For now, I'm sticking with version 3.6-2004-08-16. Thanks in advance.
