soundcard problems

i am using a VT82C686 Appllo Super AC97/Audio soundcard....... and when i go into knoppix live cd.... there is no sound..... can anyone help me out in this ?

Try 'configure soundcard' under the 'Knoppix' start menu item.

it says my soundcard is not supported...... i also tried downloading the drivers.......... i have also made a pirsistent home directory but the drivers wont install there..... it said something like 'read-only filesystem'
