Burning Knoppix to CD: Help!

I downloaded Knoppix using the link for Bittorrent so how do I now burn it to a CD? I don't see an ISO file so that is why I am confused.

I'm confused too, as there certainly is an iso file in the bittorrent download (at least I got one that way), along with a md5 file and a few other short files. How many files do you think you got and what are their names and sizes, how long did the download take?

Ok, it is an ISO file. It shows it as a WinRAR archive but when I clicked on properties, it shows it as an ISO file. Now that I know which is the ISO I have a few questions:

1) What exactly do I put on the CD? Is it just the ISO file or the other files that came with it (ASC, SHA1, MD5)?

2) I'm always seeing things about verifying the MD5 file. How do I do that?

3) I don't have Nero so what other program will let me burn an ISO as a bootable CD?

I moved this first, because it's a very important step not to skip. Less important with bittorrent than when downloading by http or ftp, but still important. There are any number of md5 programs available for Windows and other platforms. Google will find you plenty. I use the one available at toats442.org, but it's not perfect, you may find one even better. But you use whatever program you select to compute the md5 of the iso file that you have and compare it to the posted md5 sum to be sure they match.

Once you have confirmed the iso file is good, you only need the iso file. But you don't just put the file on the CD. You need to write it to CD in a form that recovers all f the file structure that is embedded in the iso file. Exactly how you do this depends on what burning software you use. With Nero 5.x you ues the "burn image..." option under the file menu. Nero 6 is ugly (boy , I never thought I would hate Nero but there are a lot of ugly things in Nero 6), and how you do it depends on which of several ugly user interdaces that you ended up with. If you have the fukk nero interface that looks a lot like Nero 5 you "OPEN" the iso file and then burn it. If you are using one of the other GUI interfaces like the Nero Express interface there should be a "burn image" option near the bottom of the screen somewhere. With other software look for some sort of burn from inage or burn from iso option. DO NOT just copy the iso file onto a CD as an ISO image, and DO NOT try to use features of your CD burning software to make the CD bootable (it will be bootable if you just burn it with the right option to burn from the ISO image).

Most burning software can burn ISO images. I do know that EZCD creator did something wacky with their ISO files somewhere around version 5, and as a result their images couldn't be burnt with other software. But as far as I know EZCD could still burn normal standard ISO's corectly. NIT also burns them fine. Tell us what you use and someone will likely know how it works.

Oh, I think I se the problem - you didn't catch on that I'm an awful typist, particularly when I'm rushing, and an even worse proof reader. That burning software is great!
I tcan verify, something Alcohol 120% can't do (yet).

The filesum calculator it seems can't compare.
I like md5summer for the job. I talows you to just double click .md5 files and check them (the files to be checked need to be in the same directory)
