Help with installing nVidia Drivers /newbie/

When I try to install the drivers

sh NVIDIA*

it gives me an error :
You are running a X window system.To install please exit - or something like that

Any ideas on how to disable the X for installing the drivers?

im a total newbye,so dont laught (;

Try <ctlr> <alt> <backspace>

or

when enter KDM, choose to log into konsole.

or edir /etc/inittab, change id:5:initdefault: to id:3:initdefault:. Change back to id:5 when you're don't installing nvidia.

**Boot to kernel 2.4 if you want to install nvidia.
