knoppix will load, but after system starts, GUI wont load.

after knoppix runs through its intialization and tries to enter runlevel 5, my monitor shuts off. i can see everything until that point when it tries to start the GUI. i thought it was some ambiguous command in the startup that did it so i started knoppix in runlevel 2 and then tried to use the 'startx' command. it gets into the process of loading the gui, but the screen still shuts off. the cd continues to load the GUI into the memory though. help please.

does knoppix correctly pick up your graphics card and support it? what type of graphics card do you have?

Sometimes happens when the refresh rate is out of the monitors range.

try puting in the rates at boot

knoppix vsync=60 hsync=60 (examples)

yes, everything loads correctly, knoppix has no problem finding my graphics card or monitor. just after "X" loads, my screen wont come on.

have you tried what firebyrd10 said... thats mainly the next problem in line.
does it work now?
