Howto change language from German to English

Knoppix 3.7 root user (and everything else ..) is in English. Added a user to configure WINE (which won;t configure as root!) User stuff is in German... how do I change this to English ?

enter the bootcode 'knoppix lang=us' at the boot prompt.

THe boot cheat code does not work ..... my Knoppix is on the hard drive.

put it in /etc/lilo.conf and rerun lilo
