Knoppix For Mac?????
Does anyone know where I can download knoppix for mac?

To the best of my knowledge, officially Knoppix is only for the x86 CPU. Thus knoppix will not work in Apple PC that uses a PowerPC CPU. There may be unofficial projects or other linux live CDs avaiable for PPC and Apple PCs. This google search should be a good starting point.
I hope this helps.

Another option might be to run Knoppix on OSX using qemu to emulate an x86 and run a Knoppix / x86 virtual machine and have the best of both worlds.

Sounds like the Mac crowd in the QEMU user forum are pretty happy with performance on their platform.

The Ubuntu guys currently have a live CD for their distro and I have read that they are working on producing a version that will run on PPC. It's not there yet, but this should be nice when it comes out.

There is definately a knoppix for PPC. It just shows how poorly macs are represented
that few know about it.
Go here: http://debian.tu-bs.de/knoppix/powerPC/
I use macs infrequently, but think they are great. I had a G3 ibook but sold it-might get a G4.
Just mentioning that because I have done alot of searching on ways to use linux with PPC.
You might consider also Rock Linux http://www.rocklinux.org/
There is a thread at knoppix on PPC do a search.
here is one thread http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtop...=3646&start=60
Like all things for macs it's not as well supported
Good luck and if you find anything interesting share it!

Beside the version of Knoppix for Mac mentioned by eon, there is another one called Knoppix-MiB available here:
Knoppix-MiB
and here
Knoppix-MiB mirror
Very similar to Knoppix is the concept of Gnoppix, which is using Gnome instead of KDE as a desktop. There are very recent versions of Gnoppix for PowerPC Live CD (developer versions, to be precise) available here:
Gnoppix.org
Gnoppix.org Downloads
Gnoppix has started some close collaboration with the Ubuntu project recently. The first release of Ubuntu (Oct. 2004) did not contain Live CDs for the Mac/PPC and AMD64 platforms. Starting from versions 0.9, these are now available in early versions from the Gnoppix site above.
From now on, you might look at Gnoppix as the Live CD edition of Ubuntu Linux for PowerPC and AMD64.
ubuntulinux.org
The next release of Ubuntu scheduled for April, 2005, will probably come as a set of 2 CDs, Install CD as well as Live CD, for all three supported platforms.
Regards,
Walter.
