For modem access we need the `cu` utility from uucp package. Minicom is not good stuff for this.

Also, the `rar` is the most popular archivator in the world. It's absent, too.

Depends on who you ask.

For most things, zip wins out.

Not to cause problems of course.

Anyway, the knoppix developer forum might be a better place to try.
