Another noob here, just started playing with Knoppix live cd. Most things work splendidly (for once! Linux has hated me in the past...long story)
However, my WINE doesn't work quite right. I'm going to try the tips in another post on this forum, but I suspect it's more related to another issue I have been experiencing; I can see my windows partitions (IDE/NTFS), but I cannot write to them at all.

Any ideas?

Do not write to an NTFS partition with Knoppix. It will corrupt your data.

If you have FAT partitions you can write to them. By default Knoppix mounts them read only, so that a new user will not wipe them out. But you can use the mount command or the :actions" selection from the desktop icon to change them to read/write.

This will not be your only problem getting wine to work.

And, a reminder: Do not write to an NTFS partition with Knoppix. It will corrupt your data.
