knoppix need 2 include on cd or dvd the last kernel source..

knoppix need 2 include on cd or dvd the last kernel source... cause i (as many of my friends) need(s) to compile the new kernel with the function i (we) need...
I believe that is the best distro after all that i've tested on my pc...but when i try to tunning the kernel i have to download the source...

    Thank you for your attention!

Have you tested normal Debian? Being a Live CD, not many people rebuild the Kernel for Knoppix, and there certainly isn't space on the CD for the sources (maybe on the DVD though). But if you are capable of rebuilding the kernel then you are certainly capable of installing a modern version of Debian, what advantage do you see of fighting with Knoppix over just using Debian and modifying the kernel there?

The CD varies in size between releases, but I don't think I've ever seen it much less than 694 megs for use on a 700 (actually 703 meg) CD. And they keep taking things off the CD to make space for programs as they bloat or even the OS as it bloats. I doubt very much if people could agree on 50 megs of stuff to give up on the CD, particularly not for sources. After all, anyone can download the sources, but you can't just download and install a missing application when using a live CD without remastering or using something like Klik..

With your connection at that speed, I would suggest using BitTorrent to install CD#1 of the Debian version that you want. One of the nice things about BitTorrent is that is can be safely stopped and restarted and it will continue downloading very cleanly, which can not always be said of the mirrors. So it would take you a while to get the CD, but you should get it. You might want to go for the Stable version though, to be sure that the iso is not updated while you are trying to download. Or find a friend with high speed and offer to introduce him to Linux if he will only do you a tiny favor ...

Verifying of md5 checksum and burning a CD at slow speed are important.
