I'd like to rephrase that question. Rather than ask 'What are we?' perhaps we should ask ourselves 'What do we do (on this forum), why, and how?'

also the man pages are sometimes left out of a distro to save space, like with some versions of Puppy or DSL. If you're looking to boot from less than a hundred megs then you have to make choices as to what is in and what is out and it appears man pages are one of the first out.
