knoppix starts up fine and all the only problem comes around when it asks for the box and password, it put them in correctly and this comes up

i can input type and all and it does not work after that, i've done everything i could of think of so i'm going to the real pros. thanks for the help guys!

I'm not sure I follow you - you're booting the cd right? Are you using a cheat code? 'knoppix 2' perhaps? Tell us how you're booting please.

i'm not using any cheat codes and i have 3, also i have it installed on my hard drivve

This is just the command prompt. It tells you what user is logged in. Anything you type here needs to be a command that Linux recognizes. For example

dmesg

This will tell you what the kernel was doing at boot time.

pwd

This will tell you what directory you are in.

lsmod

This will tell you what modules are loaded.

Are you booting your hard drive install? If you didn't select "boot into KDE' when you installed then all you need to do is type

startx
