i got a new hdd 80gb today

in my hastiness i tried partitioning with knoppix 3.7 cfdisk

i established a dos primary partition and exited cfdisk

then booted with win98 boot floppy

then on setup win 98 the scan disk reported something in my existing partion on my old 40 gb drive i inadvertantly asked it to fix it and skipped undo

now i see that i cannot access the valuable data on the directory only 0-0 appears over the existing folders and files dimmed.

can i recover this partition by any means?

i will be eternally thankfull for a remedy to this oversight
