It is the file who's name ends in ISO that you burned to make the CD.

Greatly embarrasing, guys!

Turns out that my CD-ROM drive was faulty. I've replaced it today, and the KNOPPIX 3.7.1 CD runs and boots fine.

Really sorry for all the questions, and thanks again for being so patient.

Now to have a good look at KNOPPIX...
