how to: change mac address manually??

running knoppix 3.3. Can't seem to find anywhere on how to change your mac address. I am assuming there should be a simple command done in shell. Would appreciate the help. Got everything else working, airsnort, kismet, everything. but i need to be able to change my mac address at any point.

ifconfig hw class address
Set the hardware address of this interface, if the device driver
supports this operation.
