Modem wont work with Knoppix..

im running it off cd on my Dell Laptop, inspron 8000. everythign works great except the modem. anyone know a fix? or can point me in the right direction?

Given that its a laptop, it probably is a Winmodem. Find out what make it is, and then head over to http://www.linmodems.org/ and see if it is supported under Linux.
