Re-master file formats compatible with cloop/mkisofs
The re-master routine utilizes apt-get to obtain apps compatible with the cloop/mkisofs procedures.
If the user wishes to add, in a re-master, large files of non-apt-get variety, what format is required to make them compatible with create_compressed_fs and the mkisofs routine?
Is cloop restricted to apt-get programs by design?
What does compressed_fs in the mkisofs routine do with files other than Debian-based?

create_compressed_fs just compresses the whole structure under your source/KNOPPIX folder into cloop.
You can add anything, including applications not in .deb packages. It just might confuse apt-get later on... I've installed some things from source or used alien to convert .rpms to .debs in remasters before with no trouble.

arkaine23;
I intend adding mpeg video files directly into /KNOPPIX which I have done.
It doesn't produce a compressed file beyond 52000 blocks...always fails in that region of the loading.
A strange action occurs during the loading wherein the compression ratio shows 99% during almost the entire loading up to the 52000 error message.
Examination of the /KNOPPIX file as it appears after install of the mpeg videos shows all of the files present. The total properties is 5.3GB.
It will not complete the compressed fs procedure.
The original DVD+RW boots and runs fine and is used in attempting to load the video files.
If I load to the /KNOPPIX file as follows, will the compressed fs procedure compress them?
mount -rw /dev/hda3 /mnt/hda3
cp -Rp /KNOPPIX /mnt/hda3/
cp ( mpeg file) /mnt/hda3/KNOPPIX #repeat for several files)
rm -rf /mnt/hda3/KNOPPIX/.rr_moved
mkisofs -R -U -V "KNOPPIX1" -publisher "KNOPPIX1" -hide-rr-moved -cache-inodes -no-bak -pad /mnt/hda3?KNOPPIX |nice -5 /usr/bin/create_compressed_fs - 65536 > /mnt/hda3/NEWCD/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX #NEWCD loaded with all but /KNOPPIX previously)
