Dell-PC (Dimension 8400) doesn't boot

Hi, I'm new here.

Please excuse my bad English.

Now, with my new Computer the Knoppix-Version 3.8.1 doesn't boot (Version 3.6 works fine).
It hangs up at 'init 2.78'

How can I find out what's wrong?

My PC is a Dell Dimension 8400:
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 530 HT (3.00 GHz, 1 MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB)
Harddisk: 160 GB SATA (7.200 U/Min.) mit 8 MB DataBurst& Cache

Any ideas?

'Works fine' means, the SATA-Harddisc doesn't work at all.

The rest is fine.

The trouble with my new Dell-Computer Dimension 8400 and Knoppix 3.8.1 is over...

I've disabled ACPI (knoppix acpi=off) and now it works!
