Internet is very slow

I have installed Knoppix on harddisk.
But in any case of running knoppix from cd or from hd it take a lot of time to get the web pages.
I am connected vai a router to the internet and a second win xp machine gets the pages very fast.
e.x. getting www.heise.de takes 60 seconds or more.

What is your configuration? Are you getting an IP vended from your router, and if so is it giving you DNS servers as well? Your question leaves room for about a million different possibilites.

By the way how can I cony the text from the root login test window to the firefox or where ever?

P.S.: remember it is working but very slow! Is there something like a swap file I have to check and how can I do this?
