1) Open a console terminal.

2) Log in as root.

3) cd /etc

4) joe inittab

Look for the line id:5:initdefault: or id:3:initdefault: somewhere at the top.

It should be id:5:initdefault:

If not, change the number to 5.

5) save the file

6) reboot
