Sound Card - Help

Hey,

Im having a bit of trouble configuring my sound card it is a SigmaTel 9700 chipset. I cant get any sound at all, and knoppix doesnt even recongnise the sound card. If anyone could help me out a bit that would be great, but i dont really want to be going out to buy a new one.

Sound on Knoppix has always been a mystery to me! It doesn't recognize my sound cards but manages to work anyway. Many times the problem is simply turning up the volume as I eventually found. Check out any sound related settings; kde control center sound, aumix, kmix, etc. Look at anything that relates to sound. There's a bunch of them.

I almost forgot to mention that you can run "alsaconf" script to setup sound cards but in my case turning up the actual sound levels did the trick.
