SCSI not detected on Compaq Proliant ML-370

Hello All,

KNOPPIX_V3.8.1-2005-04-08-EN boots fine and seems to work well on my Compaq Proliant ML-370 with the exception of the fact that it does not detect the onboard Ultra2 SCSI controller.

I'm a newbie at the whole Linux thing, but have spent hours searching the net for simple to follow instructions on how to supply the required driver (module?) via floppy on boot. Unfortunately I can't seem to find which module is required and how to create it.

If one of the gurus out there could shed some light on this mystery I would be most grateful.

You didn't say who makes the onboard scsi controller.
If it's an adaptec and the supplied adaptec driver will work with
an onboard controller then all you need to do is "modprobe adaptec"
If that mod(ule) doesn't work on your system it probably won't load
so it shouldn't cause any problems to try it. After you do "modprobe adaptec"
you can check to see if it loaded by doing "lsmod"

Problem is that I don't know who makes the controller... it just shows up in Windows as "Compaq Integrated Dual Channel Wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller". On the HP/Compaq site there are Linux drivers for the Ultra3 controller, but I don't see anything for the Ultra2... not that I would know what to do with them anyway.
