Problems

i had knoppix installed on my hdd for about 1 month now....everything seems fine....... but after i did an apt-get dist-upgrade the problems started.... when i open a program, it takes very long to open, knoppix does not detect my internet anymore... i just downloaded nicotine through apt-get and can't open it as well........any ideas what is wrong ?

As you probably noticed knoppix should not be dist-upgraded. Install kanotix if you want to upgrade.
Some services were probably added to startup links, check with: sudo netstat -tupan|grep LISTEN
For internet run netcardconfig, ifconfig, ifup eth0, pump -i eth0
Check for errors in dmesg, /var/log/syslog and other logs under /var/log
