Limit Users Access to Folders?

I used search and got nothing so sorry to make a new topic. How do i limit which folders certain users can access? I'm basically new to this whole ftp server thing :O if you think that it lies somewhere in my ftp software i guess i should check www.proftpd.org

or if you want to use this for general purposes look up man chroot
man chmod
