    How to Record voice from microphone?

    How do i record voice from microphone to WAV file? Do i need software for it or can i do it from the console/terminal?

    Do i need to install soundcards drivers first ?

    Try audacity or in console:
    rec -d /dev/dsp1 test.wav
    play test.wav
    If you hear nothing try a different dsp value.
