Boot from Hard Disk without floppy

I've tried KNOPPIX_V3.2-2003-03-30-EN.iso, it failed.

1. dd if=/dev/fd0 of=bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1
2. copy footsect.lnx to the WinXP loader partition, and copy all files on the floppy to the same partition
3. edit boot.ini
4. restart
5. choose boot linux, FAIL!

Anybody tried this?

what boot loader you use for the floppy ? If it is the raw one, there is no way it will work. I have documented how I did it on a VFAT(ME) partition under the hdd install section.
