about remastering knoppix to another language

hi everyone there, i am starting to learn about knoppix for future study,and i am trying to customize it and change the language of the system and then burn out into a live cd. there i read the "knoppix remastering how to" but just install the kde-i18n-xx wont work at all,

the steps i used to customize knoppix:
1. expand and copy the cloop file into the hdd
2. use dpkg or apt to install or remove the software package, include the kde-i18n-xx, and delete the current kde-i18n-xx
3. change the settings in dpkg-reconfigure locales
4. compress the cloop file
5. make the final iso file to burn on cd

however, what i got form the customized knoppix was the same language of the previous one.

there i got my questions, i am using japanese knoppix, if i delete the kde-i18n-ja, wont it unable to display japanese anymore? and the system will display in english? i dont have kde-i18n-en install in my system. but the result i got seems differ from the guide.

for example, if i want to make a new english knoppix cd from a japanese knoppix cd, the steps i used to do is right?

Do not need to remove kde-i18n-xx
Change boot parameter "lang=xx" in boot/isolinux/isolinux.cfg or set it interactively at boot prompt
And check may be package for your language already installed.
