REQUEST: please update syslinux!

I'm using knoppix v3.7, maybe this request has already been satisfied in later versions, in which case please ignore this.

v3.7 is using syslinux v2.04. Later versions of syslinux (and certainly the current version 3.09) have support for ext2/ext3
partitions - called extlinux - which makes it possible to easily transfer the /boot/isolinux directory onto an ext2 partition and
then run extlinux to install the bootloader on the partition. This would be much less hassle than the alternative of having
to translate isolinux.cfg into either lilo.conf or grub.conf syntax ;-(
