knoppix 3.9 / stuck at command line

hey all, im an avid M$xP user, and im wanting to try something new, so i decided to try knoppix's linux distro as an alternative to my current OS..I hope i posted this in the right area, otherwise please move it for me..

When it boots from the CD, it detects everything up to the sound driver then will sit there, and do nothing. I am not sure what command i have to type to boot up..could someone point me out in that direction? thanks! (im on an hp ze5170 laptop as well)

What version of Knoppix? Also, if you are having trouble booting have a look at the Cheatcodes:Tips&Tricks for ideas on trouble shooting. If you try either of the "debug" boot commands, how far do you get?
