problem !

i had knoppix installed on my pc awhile ago...... at first i had 30gb hdd... i partitioned 15gb for knoppix so i had another 15gb for my windows xp... now i want to get erase the knoppix partition and convert it back to windows.... can anybody help me ? i tried using knoppix live cd partitioning program to convert the knoppix... but i cant merge the partitions

It can be done.
You should fix your post subject line. It is not descriptive. A better subject line would be: "Remove linux partition and/or convert to windows." See also http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16574

You will need to provide us with some details such as: Do you intend to keep the windows xp partition? Or do you want to delete _everything_ and then reinstall windows? Do you want to use the first partition in windows while keeping the second partition? Please be descriptive and detailed because if we give you the worng advice, you could lose all your data.

ok..sorry......... i want to convert the knoppix partition to NTFS and then merge it with my windows xp partition, so it will be 30gb for windows..... i want to keep everything in my windows xp partition because most of my stuff is there....

Fix your post subject line by editing your first post.

WARNING! There is ALWAYS some risk of losing data. Please ALWAYS make sure that you have a working backup of your important data prior to working with hard drive partitions. It does not matter if it is Windows, Linux or anything else. There is always a chance of data loss.

You will need to boot Knoppix with the cheatcode:
knoppix nofstab noswap

Then use fdisk or cfdisk to delete the Linux partition and any other swap partition if there is one. This will require a reboot. Then use qtparted to resize the NTFS partition.

Do you need to reload the Windows XP bootloader? Were you using a linux bootloader like lilo or grub? If so then you will need to view the docs at MS to reload the bootloader: http://search.microsoft.com/search/r...3&na=33&cm=512
