Creating a ghost-like image of entire HD on a windows share

Hi guys. I am a windows-supporting pctechnician and I stumbled into this.
IT ROCKS!
I'm looking for a solution to speed up our laptopsupport.
Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on how to use the DD command to store a full image of an entire HD on a windowsshare?
The image needs to be compressed too.
And i also need a quick tutorial on how to restore these images.

Forgive me for asking this much at once!
If this is possible (i'm sure it is, but i'm too unexperienced with Linux to figure it out) then knoppix would be our alternative to Ghost.
The share itself is not the problem, i can access (and write to) it via konqueror, but i would like to know how to access it via command line.

I have now found out how to do this for separate partitions using smbmount to mount the networkshare and partimage to create the image.

Could you then explain how to ghost from linux without using ghost? I have a problem instaling some PCs as dual-boots and wondered if I could simply ghost from a working dual-boot I already installed successfully.
