Only one network interface?

Hello together,

I tried to acccess my LAN. In default, only the loopback intergface is up. I run `ifconfig eth0 up`, but eth0 is my WLAN-Interface. Running `ifconfig eth1 up` told me:

As you can see: "Marvell Technology Group Ltd" (my LAN-Interface) and "Intel Corp. PRO/Wireless 2200BG" (the WLAN-Interface) are found. eth0 is the WLAN-Interface (not tested, but the MAC for eth0 is my WLAN-MAC). Is there a special step to enable the LAN-Interface?

Btw: "Auditor 200605-02 No IPW 2100" (wich is based on knoppix or kantonix, I'm not sure) can use both, eth0 (WLAN) and eth1 (LAN).

couple quick things that may apply here...

1. knoppix by default(as far as i've see thus far) calls wireless interfaces wlan0, etc. someone w/ more Knoppix experience will correct me if i'm wrong on this i bet.

what's the output if iwconfig after the `ifconfig eth0 up` command? and what about ifconfig, what does it say?

2. it seems the drivers/module aren't in whichever knoppix you have, or at least they aren't being applied for you since Knoppix isn't recognizing it, based on this:

try googleing it to see if it takes extra steps in any other distros(esp. debian).

maybe one of those will spark an idea for you, if you haven't tried it already. sorry i couldn't help more.

edit: have you tried to find what module that other "auditor" deal uses (where it's working)? compare both lsmod outputs, i'll bet that'll shed at least a bit more light on this issue.

You can see: I can use eth0 (WLAN) and eth1 (LAN) with auditor, alltough lspci -v tells "Marvell Technology Group Ltd.: Unknown device 4362". Maybe someone else can see the problem.

Btw: Auditor is based on Kanotix
