Anyone have experience setting up one of these cards with the KNOPPIX 3.9 liveCD and/or hdinstall? This is a wireless router combo with a USB card. I tried

iwconfig ath0 key xxxxxxxxxx
iwconfig ath0 essid "xxxxxxxxxx"

and got the following errors:

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device ath0 ; No such device.

Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device ath0 ; No such device.

What can I do about this?

what is the output of ifconfig, iwconfig and lspci? knoppix has no idea what ath0 is on your box it seems, you can try if there's an eth0 or better yet wlan0 entry(i.e. replace ath0 with wlan0 and eth0 to see if one of those work). more details you post the better.
