There was a similar issue with floppyconfig. As a shot in the dark, try booting with boot: knoppix myconfig=/mnt/sda1 -b which will put you in "emergency mode." Then type 'mkdr /mnt/sda1' [1] to create the mountpoint. Type 'exit' to continue booting normally.

Don't guarantee that it'll work, but please post back either way.
