I just startet a Knoppix-Remastering-Project titled "Phantomex" with the following already supported / planned features :

Based on KNOPPIX V3.9, so it`s Kernel 2.6.11

Size : < 220 at the moment, next release ~200MB for RAM support purposes.. (Booting KNOPPIX to RAM with just as much as 256MBytes in your computer..., currently 512MBs are recommended for RAM.Mode)

Features :

- Full Networking Support, with knoppix-scripts and ndiswrapper
- Samba, SSH, Firewall (SSH - password bug in the actual beta, will be fixed in the next release)
- QTParted, ntfs-tools, testdisk, gpart, partimage, etc....(for system-rescue and backup purposes, captive support planned in next release !)
- Mozilla Firefox
-Based on Fluxbox WM --> Fast, reliable and easily to modify
-Synaptic Package Manager --> easily add/remove packages in RAM-Mode (at least 512MBs of RAM highly recommended for this at the Moment
