Konsole history search in vi mode (set -o vi) garbles prompt

Knoppix 4.0.1 DVD

When I'm in a Konsole shell and I execute "set -o vi" then type a few commands and then type "Esc-/ <pattern><Enter>" and then press "n" to jump to each match the matches garble then prompt as they come up up. Any idea how to fix this?
