Anyone help?

I'm new to Linux and have been using the Kanotix live CD to check everything out. The Speedtouch 330 connected fine from the PPPoATM option (using Virgin.net in the UK), but since installing to HDD the thing refuses to work. I enter all the various passwords and whatnot, and the lights on the modem are both green and solid, but when I launch a browser nothing happens!

I like the look of Kanotix, but this is frustrating me!
