I'm having a simmilar problem using a orinoco card as well. i am able to sucessfully and fully use kismet, but airsnort doesnt want to show my card in its list of avalible network cards. strange. any ideas?
Hi all, i just installed knoppix 3.2 on my laptop and airsnort is refusing to work, it says "could not set monitor mode" whenever i try and start. I am running a linksys WPC11 card which has a prism2/3 chipset. Knoppix is loading up the orinoco driver which for some reason airsnort doesn't like. If anyone has a solution for this problem or perhaps knows of a different program that works like airsnort that would work any help would be greatly appreciated!![]()

you need to run the patched orinoco driver. alot of people are having issues with this.
To the best of my knowledge, this newest release of knoppix (7-26) is running the patched orinoco drivers. that is how i am able to run kismet. if this is not the case, then please explain further.

run airsnort as root. Works everytime.
