I have two harddrives that I swap in and out of my laptop. One of them dual boots Sarge/XP and the other has XP with Knoppix3.7 installed to the hd. When I am running Debian I can run "tail -f /var/log/messages" and get output when I plug in or remove usb or pcmcia devices. When using Knoppix however I get no response from "tail". Not a big deal but I wonder what I am doing wrong?
