ok when i try using kaffine of xine i get this error:

there is no input plugin available to handle 'dvd:/'
maybe MRL syntax is wrong or file/stream source doen't exist

I think you need to go to the tips and tricks section and read Markus' excellent tutorial on CDs and DVDs.

My guess is that you need to create a symlink on whatever your DVD hardware is to have it point to "DVD"
