Can't Open Hard Drive folder

hi i've just started using knoppix linux and all ready i have a prob and it is that when i click on the hard drive icon it comes up with a error message what do i do? also how do you bring up that comand prompt message thing?

If the error message says something about bad super block or wrong file system then chances are knoppix can't read the filesystem. If the error is something different than that post it and someone will try to help.
To bring up a terminal ( which is where you enter commands ) either press the <alt> key with the <F2> key and type xterm into the dialogue box that opens or using the kmenu, goto system and look through the list for terminal.
